Vocalist Trish Hatley is one of the most beloved and enduring figures on the West Coast music scene today. With her easy sense of swing, beautiful tone and innate sensitivity to the lyric, she effectively balances technical mastery and genuine accessibility, making her extremely popular among jazz fans and critics alike. Trish performs and records with her own quintet, as well as the vocal jazz trio Trish, Hans and Phil. She has appeared in multiple Pop Symphony concerts and loves “singing with swingin’ Big Bands” whenever the opportunity presents itself. Trish is particularly revered for her mastery of the Great American Songbook. In the words of music blogger Robert Nicisoa, “She sings songs that were written years ago but her approach breathes new life and sparkle into all of them!”

This band is incredible and what an amazing experience to play with them!! I have been singing with them for about 10 years now and my singing partner, Nathan Fry just joined us this year. The band has been together more than 30 years and is truly one of the best big bands around. We don’t do the old swing style that people think of when they think “big band”. We do high energy modern arrangements for this 17 piece band. Our CD, “It’s About Time”, was just released about a month ago and has already gotten lots of airplay around the country as well as noticed in Europe and Japan. The CD features some heavy guest stars including Wayne Bergeron (trumpet), Eric Marienthal (saxophone), Dean Brown (guitar), Bill Cantos (piano), Bernie Dressel (drums), and Gilbert Castellanos (trumpet) as well as the best of San Diego’s musicians.
SWINGTOWN was founded in 1993 by Dave Eastly and Dave Wells, after seeing a need for a band that combined Big-Band Swing Music with popular R & B, Disco, and Rock an Roll dance music. And they’ve assembled some of the finest musicians in Southern California that actually like each other and want to bring their sense of “FUN” to the party! The band developed its own “chemistry” while performing in the So Cal nightclub scene, making SWINGTOWN the acclaimed ensemble of today!

San Diego’s Queen of Boogie Woogie, Sue Palmer, has amazed audiences all over the world with her unique style and phenomenal left hand. She delights in creating an atmosphere reminiscent of the small clubs and cafes of 1932 Paris, Harlem, West Texas and Hawaii. Her first CD, which features many of her own compositions, has been described as “full of fun, and cool enough to cause crop damage to orange groves.” Her second CD, “Soundtrack to a B Movie” was called “a steam of sultry sound.” “Live at Dizzy’s” was voted the Best Blues Album at the San Diego Music Awards, 2002-2003. “Palmer has come into her own on this wonderful new release, “In The Green Room,” 2005, with studio and live tracks redefining her rep as “just” a gifted pianist-bandleader. Palmer may now add producer and visionary to her resume.” Her 2007 release, “Sophisticated Ladies,” has won the 2008 International Blues Challenge (IBC) Award for Best Self Produced CD, awarded by the Blues Foundation in Memphis, and many think its her best album yet.
Sue & Her Motel Swing Orchestra are renowned for their highly energetic shows… …and have received rave reviews for their live performances, including the Mammoth Jazz Festival, Ocean Beach Jazz Festival, LaJolla BytheSea Concerts, KSDS Jazz Radio 88.3, and many others. The Royal Crown Revue (RCR) is a band formed in 1989 in Los Angeles, CA. They are often credited with starting the Swing Revival movement. Liv, RCR has been extremely successful: They participated in 1998’s Vans Warped Tour, opened for the B-52s and The Pretenders and played at major US Jazz Festivals. The band also filmed an episode of Gene Simmons Family Jewels which aired in March 2010.
The band was founded by Mark Stern, Eddie Nichols and Mando Dorame out of their love of Rockabilly, Punk, Jazz, Blues, Soul and other styles of roots music. Two of Stern’s siblings, Jamie and Adam rounded out the group (Mark, Adam and another brother Shawn were members of the punk band Youth Brigade.
After releasing their first album on BYO Records, the band signed with Warner Bros. and parted ways with the Stern brothers.Currently, RCR’s lineup consists of singer Eddie Nichols, tenor saxophonist/arranger/writer Mando Dorame, trumpeter Scott Steen and drummer Daniel Glass. The band continues to play to capacity crowds in Australia, Europe and the US.
After filming The Mask, RCR began a residency at the landmark Los Angeles club, The Derby, which gained worldwide recognition due, in large part, to the location’s inclusion in the hit film Swingers. Although the band’s music was an instrumental part of The Derby’s swing scene, a conflict in their Warner Brothers contract prevented Royal Crown Revue from appearing in the movie.
The RCR Horn section backed Bette Middler on her top-grossing 2003-2004 Kiss My Brass tour. Trumpeter Scott Steen was Bette’s featured soloist.
Royal Crown Revue is an infectious and energizing group ideal for your next corporate event!

Welcome to the cartoon-noir universe of Jay Alexander’s New Swing Circus. This exciting new offering in themed events combines the mystery of a speakeasy and the thrill of vaudeville. Step into another era as a hired thug in a cool suit asks for the pass-word. Inside, a gangster’s moll in a tight red dress and plenty of rhinestone’s takes a swig from a martini glass. She then breathes a four foot flame toward the bar. Cigarette girls roam the crowd hawking goods from the Trick City Novelty Company. On stage the deliciously evil band leader inspires 10 pieces of brass to start blowin’ a swing number that would make Benny Goodman proud! The real fun starts when Jay Alexander hits the room at the speed of sound with a show combining the punch of vaudeville, the heat of a speakeasy and plenty o’ shtick! This show will make the joint jump like a cat on a hot tin roof.
