Chris Paul, imported all the way from London to the Coachella Valley. He is known for his expertise in djing, music production, piano playing, sax playing and party promotion. He has djed all over the world.
Living in LA for 10 years he was found djing at Hollywoods exclusive clubs like the Garden of Eden, The Lounge, Cinespace, The Gate, AD, Chi, Barfly, Argyle Hotel, House of Blues, The Key Club. He was also the king of wrap parties djing for the Grammys, Will & Grace wrap party, CSI wrap party, Blade 3 wrap party, SAW 1 and 2 Movie premier party, Halle Berry’s birthday party. He also frequented the East Coast djing at Club Usa (New York), Webster Hall (New York), Limelight (New York), Red Zone (New York), Zanzibar (New Jersey).
All his success in America paled in comparison to what he achieved in England before LA. He created, ran and promoted of one of the largest and most successful electronic music events in London. He was packing in 3,000 people every weekend and premiering as the main dj for all his events at the London hot spots…Hippodrome, Limelight, Equinox, Ministry Of Sound, Astoria, Camden Palace, Stringfellows and Cabaret Of Angels.
With a 3 million dollar turnover from all his success as a promoter; he still had time to be signed to major labels for his original music and remixes. in 1986 he was signed to Island Records and released a single that led to a performance on Soul Train. In 1988 He was signed to EMI Records releasing 2 singles that he produced and engineered at the famous Abbey Road Studios. In 1989 Chris went on tour all throughout Germany as the DJ with Afrika Bambatta and the Soul Sonic Force.
By this time Chris was so in demand he was asked to dj at the Virgin Airlines party at Heathrow Airport with Richard Branson, dj at Her Majesty The Queen Mother of England 90th birthday party by Royal Appointment at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Park Lane, London. He also djed at a princess Diana party at the London Hippodrome.
He also djed regularly in Portugal, Malta, Teneriffe and Ibiza. In 1990 he was signed to Virgin Records and released 2 singles that led to a performance on the UK TV Show Dance Decade. In 1991 he released a single on Tommy Boy Records. That same year he gained success by being part of the band DNA and producing the hit Toms Diner featuring Suzanne Vega. The song reached number 5 in the USA Billboard charts and number 1 in the UK. This led to a tour in New York. 1993 was also a big year for Chris. He was signed to London/ Polygram Records and released 2 national and dance hits leading to a performance on the famous Top Of The Pops show.
Chris still continues his music production having scored music for a mastercard commercial, The Warner Bros Anti Piracy Ad, Khols commercial. He’s also provided music for MTV Real World, Road Rules, Napster, Apple Ipod, Sky TV, BBC One, and Clubavision TV. He’s done countless of remixes and has released more than 50 songs to major labels within the past 5 years.
Chris currently has 2 albums out on his own label ‘Orangeman Recordings” and is featured on 6 different compilations released through major labels in the US and Europe. He has recently produced a top 10 dance hit for one of Japans biggest pop stars Jyrongri on EMI Japan.
