ERICA POWELL HARPIST

Harpist Erica Powell is sought out for her charismatic performances and thorough teaching style. She spent 5 years living in Northern England, where she performed with the Northern Sinfonia, the Leeds Sinfonia, and the Durham Sinfonia.During this time, she taught at the Sage Gateshead Centre for the Performing Arts, the British centre for excellence in music education.She has extensive experience preparing students for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examinations and believes that a strong technical foundation allows students to pursue their dreams more fully. Currently, she holds a private studio and her students perform regularly in solo settings, harp ensembles and school ensembles.

Ms. Powell also exhibits a strong interest in popular music. She has performed for John Legend and has recently appeared on the reality TV show OC Housewives and the Fox TV show GLEE. She has also performed for Cunard Cruise Lines aboard the Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth 2 cruise ships.

Ms. Powell began studying pedal harp with Dominique Piana in Redlands, California when she was 11 years old. She received her Bachelor’s of Music in Harp Performance from Eastman University, where she studied with Kathleen Bride.
