A first generation American born in California, Pipe Sergeant Roderick Cribbes began chanter lessons at age 10 with the Caledonian Pipe Band under the direction of PM Bill Lumsden, and later with Charles Lumsden.Throughout the years, instructed by Charles Knowles, PM Robert Hackney, PM Kathleen Nicholson Graham and Ian Whitelaw. Mr. Cribbes Joined the “Nicholson Pipes & Drums” in 1993. During this time the band won many local competitions and had their debut in Glasgow Scotland at the 2005 World Pipe Band Championship. In 1998 was appointed Pipe Sergeant of the Nicholson Pipes & Drums by PM Robert Hackney. In his piping career had the honor of performing for President Gerald Ford, Senator Mary Bono and the Palm Springs 911 day of rememberance. Has lived in Palm Desert, CA. since 1990 and has enjoyed playing the bagpipe for 41 years.
